Art that keeps giving

Our first art exhibition, held at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London in March last year, was a great success. It has also led to one artist creating more fabulous paintings while supporting the work of the Trust.

That artist is Mia Worlidge, who donated an oil portrait commission to the auction, which was held as part of the exhibition. She is now offering a limited number of commissions, with around £1,000 from each portrait being donated to the Trust.

Mia is a professional portrait painter, artist and musician. She trained in Florence, spending three years mastering the Old Masters drawing and painting techniques from life. From there, she attended the Rome University of Fine Art, followed by a degree in Art History at University College London.

Mia describes her portraits as “made up of the small moments shared between artist and sitter that make up the person’s spirit.”

She says: “The Charlie Waller Trust has been such a source of inspiration for me, and I am so honoured to continue to contribute in any way that I can.

"I think this limited commission idea is a great way to get a new injection of people, both younger and older, to visually engage with the Trust and have their own experience with loved ones, whilst contributing to the Trust in a meaningful way.”

Mia’s very generous offer was inspired by her experience of completing the commission from the auction.

She recently delivered the finished, framed portrait to the auction winner, Matthew Moore, and his family.

She says: “I had an incredible experience painting this piece. Matthew was so kind and a wonderful client, and I am overjoyed that he loves the portrait as much as I loved creating it. He and his wife Hannah shared that they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and feel I have captured their children’s spirits brilliantly, which means a great deal to me.

“It’s a huge success, both in raising money for Charlie Waller, and for gifting a painting to a family that they can value forever.”

Mia has her own personal reasons for wanting to support the Trust. She explains: “I have anxiety myself, and I feel deeply connected to the Trust’s mission and would love to continue building and nurturing this relationship in a meaningful way.”

Limited commissions

Mia is offering a small number of portrait commissions, with sittings available in May and early June and from mid-July in her 19th century studio in Chelsea.
