Mental Health Trainer
Gemma Howard is a children and young people’s mental health trainer, with a focus on emotional wellbeing, responsive relationships, and anxiety. She began her career as a primary school teacher and has since worked across education and community settings, supporting children, families, and professionals. Gemma now works closely with primary schools to develop whole-school approaches to mental health, including staff training, pupil wellbeing sessions, student wellbeing ambassador programmes, and parent and carer workshops. Examples of her training include: brain development and stress, responsive relationships, anxiety, trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), emotion coaching, eating disorders, and supporting parents and carers.
She is deeply passionate about coming alongside families and schools, with her work informed by her teaching career, her own lived experience of ADHD and a disorder for over 14 years, and recently, her own journey of parenting two young children.
Gemma delivers the New Maudsley Eating Disorder Skills-Based Carer Workshops, is a Mindful Emotion Coach and a trauma-informed practitioner. In addition to her work with the Trust, Gemma teaches yoga, runs a Relax Kids programme, and is training to become a hypnotherapist and psychotherapeutic counsellor.
